[16:49] <snover> these initial VMD audio packets for old-stereo mode are&interesting. `nextFrameOffset - audioBlockDataOffset - audioBlockSize` seems to always be 65536.
[16:52] <snover> oh, that also just happens to be size * number of filled blocks. so, not so magical.
[16:54] <snover> unfortunately, this seems to leave me with an odd number of samples for the initial block, which is almost certainly why things are going crazy.
[17:00] <snover> i guess the original interpreter just dumps the sample data into a circular buffer that gets decompressed when it is read, so a new audio block from the video stream ends up completing the pair before the read cursor get to the half-sample. our decoder expects that an audio packet from the stream is complete.
